Steingraeber & Söhne

The German city of Bayreuth is best known for its annual festival and opera house built by composer Richard Wagner. The city, however, is also home to a second musical centre of world renown, the Steingraeber & Söhne piano factory. Steingraeber is a family-owned company now in the hands of fifth generation descendant Udo Steingraeber.

According to a growing number of professional pianists and music-lovers Steingraeber & Söhne are probably the finest pianos available in the world today. In the French “Le Monde de la Musique” magazine’s annual piano tests, Steingraeber pianos have been awarded the “Choc” in the “Best of the Very Best” category more often than any other piano make. Concert halls worldwide are increasingly acquiring Steingraeber pianos - the Philharmonic Hall in Berlin, home to perhaps the world's greatest orchestra, took delivery of a Steingraeber E-272 concert grand piano in November 2013.

Florian Piano is proud to represent Steingraeber & Söhne in Brunei. We have visited the Steingraeber workshops and seen with our own eyes how these exceptional pianos are built.

In the following video company owner Udo Steingraeber shares some of the secrets of how a Steingraeber piano is crafted by hand:
