Visit to Sauter 2015

Sauter can lay claim to being the oldest surviving piano maker in the world. The company was established in 1819 by Johann Grimm, uncle of Carl Sauter, and has been making pianos in the south-west German town of Spaichigen ever since. In the 1960s the company moved to a new factory bulding.

As well as their standard ranges Sauter produce a special series featuring the cabinet and casework designs of Peter Maly. Here are two models of uprights with butterfly type tops.
